Suggestions for 30th Birthday next year
Hello all
I'm currently in Val Cenis for the Ski season, and I love the place. I'm now looking for somewhere good for a few of us to go to next New Year for my 30th Birthday. I think I've been kind of spoilt by Val Cenis so we may come here, but does anyone have any other suggestions?? Somewhere good for a group of about 15 of us, ideally all together, or maybe a couple of large apartments. Good mix of on and off piste for both skiers and boarders, and no mad queues. Thanks for your time Damian |

Thanks for your time Damian This wouldn't be a certain Damian of MGS fame that I know from a couple of weeks ago, would it??? If so, say hello to everyone there from Iain, Lisa & little Lewis!! I wish I was still in Val Cenis... it's got to be better than working for a living in an office full of morons looking out the window at incessant rain!! Oh, to be able to strap on the brand new B2's now.... sigh!!! I've got no suggestions for you, I'm afraid. None of the places I know seem any good anymore after Val Cenis. But if I was going for my 30th, Meribel or Val Thorens would be a consideration. Some of my mates may cause Val Cenis serious harm so I'd keep them away from there!! LOL!! Some of the Austrian resorts are good for parties and skiing, I believe, so maybe that's worth a look. I've never been, though, so maybe a few people on here can comment. Good luck, Schneck |

Good luck, Schneck Hello there, Yes, this is the same Damian. We've got a week off this week, which is why I'm spending a bit more time in front of my computer. Doing some more animation and updating my website. I'm sure that's not what you want to hear. Someone who could be on the mountain doing something else while you're dreaming of your B2's :-) We're not into causing havoc, just having a good time. We wouldn't need much night life because we'd just make our own. Val Cenis would be perfect, except that a few of us have been here now, it would be nice to go somewhere new. Best wishes Schneck Damian |

Hello there,
Yes, this is the same Damian. Good to hear from you! I hope everyone there is well. Thanks again for looking after us. Did Peter let you have some of that beer we left for everyone? He better had!! He he!! And thanks for picking up the pieces on my numerous stacks... I skied like Kermit the Frog without the Muppeteer's hand up his jacksy all week!! We've got a week off this week, which is why I'm spending a bit more time in front of my computer. Doing some more animation and updating my website. I'm sure that's not what you want to hear. Someone who could be on the mountain doing something else while you're dreaming of your B2's :-) Is it the off piste week Peter & Brenda were telling us about? I could take the B2's to Tamworth (it's only up the road) but I don't want to inflict slush, ice, ignorant idiots and the rubber from those travelators on them. Would just seem wrong! LOL We're not into causing havoc, just having a good time. We wouldn't need much night life because we'd just make our own. Val Cenis would be perfect, except that a few of us have been here now, it would be nice to go somewhere new. I know what you mean. I was watching a holiday program on monday night (the good old Beeb!). They were talking about a couple of resorts in the Spanish Pyrenees. Reminded me of Val Cenis in that there was plenty of good skiing and no queues!! I can't remember the name of the places they featured but the tour op they used was called Pura Aventura. Maybe worth giving them a look and getting some details. It looks like a place I might try in the future. It wasn't teeming with night life, but as you say, you can just as easily make your own. They flew in Pau and got a transfer into Spain. Have a good week off and good luck with finding something. Laters, Iain C |

Thanks for your time Damian Three ideas: Les Arcs. Haven't been since the link to La Plagne so I'm not too sure how this would affect queues, (used to have occasional problems around 2000 but nothing anywhere else). Plenty of off piste and variety of pistes for all standards. Excellent black runs mostly above 2000. Limited chalets. Tignes/Val D'isere. Loads of off piste and plenty of tough runs. Tignes is better placed for the skiing but choice of accomodation is better in Val. Alp D'Huez. Years since I've been there so I might be out of date. Good on and off piste, but most tough on piste skiing only available cable car is running. Carl Alp D'Huez. |

hi ya is nowhere safe from you guys? we went to pas a few years ago for Aimees 21st and the place was fantastic for a party, the bars are cheesy and the clubs are worse! high enough to be snowsure and plenty of space to avoid nuggets like me on snowboards, only problem: no bad girls medicine. cheers, Phill & Aimee |
