Default Decent 2-way radios on the mountain?

Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone here has used some decent two-way radios (FRS
or GRMS?) on the mountain. Any tips for what range (2,5,6,7 mile?)
and which frequency works best? I ski/board in Colorado.
Thanks,
Eric
