Default Injury - How? What to do?

No big deal.
For a few days after, my calves were VERY sore.
Again, no big deal.

BUT, my LEFT wrist has been hurting since Sat.
Im not even sure how I hurt it, or what I can do about it.

It hurts on top...right where I guess people who have carpal tunnel
syndrome has pain.
The place where the wrist bends back.

So any idea, how that place could have gotten hurt, and what can I do?
Its been a week already and it still hurts.
Even the bruise, and calf pain is gone by now.

If you're using the pole-strap wrong, you can give your wrist a real
good tweak (or worse). Do you put your hand straight through the
strap and grab the pole (so that the strap runs down around your wrist
and back up) or do you put your hand UP through the strap, and then
grab the pole, so the strap runs down through your closed hand and
then around your wrist? If you do it the first way, the pole can
apply a LOT of leverage to your wrist or thumb in a fall.

Well I agree with everything FHemmer said above - IMO you're yanking the
group's chain but you're very entertaining with it. Whatever, I'll try keep
out of your threads from now on unless I have something constructive to say.

You're wrong, Im totally serious.

Re your wrist problem: I once had the same problem after skiing and it was
definitely due to the ski poles I was using at the time, they just didn't
feel comfortable - next time you go make sure the ski poles you rent feel
comfortable in your hand in the shop and change them if they don't.

But why would gripping the poles affect the back of my wrist?
Im thinking MAYBE I did hit it.
When I fell on my right side, the back of my right hand hit the
ground, but my left hand probably hit the ground and got pushed
backwards too much...?

Could that cause it? But I dont know why it would still hurt a week
later.
The calf pain and bruise is long gone.

Maybe.
Sometimes I used it with no strap, sometimes with the strap in my
palm, sometimes with it on the back of my hand.
I like it better without strap, but then the strap flaps around.

I think you are right, I fell mostly on my right side, so maybe my
left hand slammed into the ground.

But the bruise on my hip, and the calf pain (which was muscle pain) is
long gone, but the wrist is still hurting.

Excessive trolling is a well known cause of carpal tunnel syndrome.

You don't say how old you are. Under 50, figure at least 4 weeks for
things to stop hurting if they are really damaged. 50 - 70 years
old, figure at least 6 weeks.

That's the part I resent about being of advanced youth.

For the Original Poster -
Thumbs and wrists are common injuries in skiing - it only takes one fall
where you try to block yourself by puttin a hand down to strain a wrist
of tear a thumb ligament. One of the things you need to learn as a new
skier is how to fall - keep your thumb tucked in, and try not to put
your hand down to catch yourself - that's just asking for injury.

About the hip bruising - make sure you don't carry anything in your
pockets where you can fall on it on hard snow.
