Here in Duluth, we finished up with 27 inches of new snow! Sunny now.
Spent yesterday (UMD was closed for the first time that I can
remember!) tele-skiing at Spirit. Off to the X-C trails this
afternoon. It's a winter wonderland!

Yes, this is ruining my roller skiing! (kidding - though there hasn't been
much on-snow time in about 3 years. This is the best snow we've had here in
SE WI since the big December snowfall of 2000 (was it that long ago?). Was
out at Minooka Park in Waukesha this evening - best conditions I have seen
in my 6-7 years skiing at the park. The park got a new Tidd-Tech and
snowmobile, and the park ranger is perfecting his grooming technique after
taking in a seminar at ABR. He is doing a great job - fabulous skating lane,
and classic track looks absolutely superb. Would normally be out at Lapham
Peak, but this is so good (and close to where I work) for me there is no
reason to go anywhere else in the Milwaukee area at this time.

I'm jealous! I lived in the Milwaukee area for 15 years thru '98 and only
was able to get out a few times - seems like the decent storms melted within
a few days.

Here in South Central PA, its 22 F, sunny, and we have 4" powder over a 6"
base of packed snow and ice. I just finshed a 90 minute loop around a
county park. Beautiful day!

Milwaukee is a few inches over the normal January snowfall, but still behind
season normal. Always room for more!

Minooka. Is that Erol grooming? Didn't look like him. I was going to
say I miss that old yellow Skidoo, but ... NOT !

Until recently, I relied on your reports, John, and there was not much
snow to report on. Last year, my first in New Hampshire, featured
good skiing right across the street. Now we have a snow drought here
in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Should I be driving from here
to Minooka, or Petrifying Springs this weekend?

I take it you'll be in the midwest for some reason. All trails in SE Wisconsin
are in good condition. Minooka Park in Waukesha is perfect. Bring your long
johns, it's been around zero and is staying there.
