Hello, Are there and websites that specialise in secondhand ski/boarding
equiptment?

I'm after 2 complete snowboard setups for my two children, one 126mm and one
140mm board both with size 3 boots.

Any ideas?

Thank you

David )

Presumably your dimensions are out by a factor of 10! :-)

No, I've got very small children ;o)

For that kind of stuff, would the local free-ads suffice? Mine are always
full of kids stuff (not just snowboards) being sold, barely touched.

140cm would be biggish, I'm guessing that this is not an infant child.
Someone around 8st, 112lb, 51kg would suit a board that size.

The 140 would be for a 12 year old, this comes up to about eye level. He's
only just started last weekend and tried a smaller board on Saturday and a
140 on Sunday and got on better with it. Also gives a bit of growth which
helps the wallet )

The 126 would be for a 10 year old and comes up to around nose level and
similar happened at weekend.

Small ads locally don't have much in the way of winter sports I'm afraid
(

Thanks anyway

David )

Fair enough, it's all about what works.

The height "rule" is a very rough and ready guide though. It only really
works for someone of average build. Board length is more directly related
to rider weight, and is altered by the stiffness of the board. Hence why
I gave some weights suitable for a 140cm board of average stiffness.

Have you tried a wants ad at your local dry slopes?

Have you tried ebay? There's usually a selection of shorter boards on
there. Boots are more tricky, the smaller sizes do come up but it's a
gamble to get a good fit.

The ski and snowboard shows often have good deals. I bought a my son a new
new board and bindings last year for £60.
