The disparity in the US has gotten much larger, esp. in the last few
years.

It's hard to accumulate wealth when you are taxed for dying (estate
taxes) and taxed on capital gains, dividend income, purchases (sales),
property, income (federal, state and local (in some instances), FICA
not to mention marriage fees, vehicle licenses, telephone and probably
in the not too distant future, internet taxes. Yes, taxes on internet
usage... Maybe a flat tax would be the way to go...
