Default Problems with Salomon Dialogues

Anyone else have problems with these? I bought them about a year ago and at
first they were super comfy. Towards the end of last season I started
getting really cold feet and my feet hurt like hell on some occasions.
Different socks and superfeet insoles made no difference. Finally today I
gave up and rented some boots. Not exactly a good fit (Emery was the brand I
think, never heard of them) but my feet went from freezing cold to all hot
and sweaty in no time.

So what's up with the Dialogues? I've heard the liners can wear out but they
look ok to me.

Any recommendations for a replacement? I have really narrow heels and
generally narrow feet so I think my options are limited. I'm looking for a
freestyle type boot. The Dialogue had pretty much the right flex for me.

Rob.

Have a pair of dialogues that have seen a fair bit of use. No problems as
yet, quite happy with them. Are you sure you weren't just doing them up too
tight (easy to do with that lace-pull thing). If you reduced the blood
supply to your feet, cold and painful is exactly what you would expect.

Default Problems with Salomon Dialogues

I went through two pairs of Dialogues in the last two seasons
(orange/black and green/black models). Just like you I initally found
them very comfortable, but after about 15 days they started breaking
down a bit and my foot/ankle started hurting (particular with the
2002-2003 Model). It was the top of my foot just in front of the ankle
because the new liner has a tough piece of fabric that runs over your
foot. It's there to help keep your ankle/heel from lifting... the
problem is that when the liner breaks down, that's the only thing left
keeping your ankle/heel down and it's puts a LOT of pressure on the
top of your foot. You wouldn't notice it in the morning, but by lunch
the constant pressure just made my feet kill (they were a little cold
too, but not too much so). I cut out the fabric and the foot pain when
away... but suddenly I had a lot of ankle/heel lift... so I returned
the boots to REI. I'm currently wearing a pair of DCShoes Radians I
found on a really good sale (good freestyle boots with a inflatable
liner), but I think I will eventually shell out the cash for a pair of
Salomon Malamutes for freeriding.

Thanks for the replies.

I think it may be at least partly an issue of the boots being too tight
although it definitely wasn't a problem to start with, even with really low
temps (-25C).

I can't seem to find any DCShoes suppliers in the uk but I'll keep looking.
Meanwhile if anyone has any other suggestions or knows if the 2003/4
Dialogues are any better (I was told they'd been totally redesigned) I'd be
grateful.

Thanks!

Rob.
