Ski/Board rack

I want a ski/board rack for my 4wd and really don't know where to
look. What kind of places can you find new/used racks (ski shops,
used sporting goods, car dears, etc)? Are there different kinds of
racks, and are any of them better than others? I'd appreciate any
help.

Check your local auto store (Pep Boys, Canadian Tire ...?) for the cheapest
prices. I found the ski shops were a bit overpriced for the same thing. End
of season is a good time to pick up these kind of items so you might get
lucky on a deal.

I'm using a BarreCrafters unit - holds 4 snowboards or 6 pairs of skis - or
a combination of. I think I paid like $80 Cdn a few years back. Comes with
locks also. Wide opening jaws with rubber inserts to protect boards and
skiis. Holds pretty secure, even at illegal driving speeds! You can get
similar units from Thule, Yakima, SportRack, etc... Most of these are
universal fit.

The Rack Warehouse has great prices (they're currently having a sale).
I have the Yakima Lift Ticket 6. They work great! If you have a
factory rack and cross bars, you only need the rack and the mounts.
