Good thing about old Rossi: SO LIGHTWEIGHT!
One good thing about the 1990 era Rossi gear is that it's SO LIGHT. It
wasn't very durable, but heck I finally have a set of each kind of skis that have lasted ever since, so they're actually pretty darn durable. Man, those skis are light! They seem to weigh half of a new set of Fischers. And the boots and bindings are superlight too---probably especially compared to Pilot. The boots are flimsy laceups. Airweight. Since when has XC footwear been airweight? Since Rossi's, that's what! I sure appreciate the benefits such light stuff must give. And I'm happy I've never busted any of it. --JP |

I bought a pair of Rossi's circa 1995. They were all yellow skate skis.
They weighed significantly lighter than the new Rossi F3 X-iums. Moreover, the older Rossi's were bomb proof and I couldn't kill them until this years rocks and thin cover finally did them in. wrote: One good thing about the 1990 era Rossi gear is that it's SO LIGHT. How about the thinness and longness of the old, uh, Kneissel tips?
--This is maybe 1980. Those skis weren't wider than an inch for the first foot or more. Oh, and they were also very TALL. That tiny pointy tip stood about 6" off the ground. Weren't they bold yellow? They were sweet! Top Michigan guys used them so I remember wanting them. Then there were the mid-80's skis with fluorescent lime colored bases. What were those? They looked great when they reflected on the snow. I'd get in a trance skiing behind someone using those. --JP |
