That's my predition anyway.

And then...they will Just Plain Suck!

My ideal sports station would show World Cup ski racing, Grand Slam
tennis, and the Tour de France. And World Cup soccer (hey, I wonder who's
gonna pick that up in the USA?). I'd also like Patriots and Yankees
games, but that's asking too much, I know.

I actually upgraded from basic cable to extended basic just to get OLN
(about 4 years ago). Time to go back to basic cable.

Ditto - 'cept it's satellite instead of cable. I wouldn't let those
cable morons near my house again.

Looks like OLN is not covering FIS world cup any more this year. Anyone

dumped nearly everything related to alpine skiing.

According to the OLN web site schedule they're showing the WC finals on
Sunday from 4 to 5 eastern. Not enough time, of course, for adequate
coverage; but it's better than nothing. Got to keep the fishermen happy.
And "RV Today" gets an hour and a half. Give me a break.

Thought you guys had some regional sports network in NE that covered NE
skiing along with Pats.

The Pats are waaaaay too big for NESN, which is the regional sports
network. They show up on the networks, FOX or ESPN, but because of my
location, often I can't get 'em. We're too close to New York, and the
satellite providers won't let us get the "New England" programming. Go
figure.

NE skiing???? If only.

Last I heard, Canada didn't even call it piracy. If they won't sell it to
you legally, there's no crime in obtaining it otherwise. Maybe it's even
one of Canada's major exports.

Any chance he'll de-retire? Given what I've read about him, it sounds
more like an addiction than anything else. And didn't he and Sheryl just
split? Gotta read more celeb stuff...

If he does, I'd like to see him change his focus from the TdF to some of the
one day classics and maybe add the Giro.

Better is cablemodem only.

I've got to think that it won't be long before Olympic events are on
in their entirety through some sort of subscription.

There is hardware called "Sling Box" that you attach to a tv in a
home that allows you to access that tv's signal on your computer over
the internet. Last I looked at Best Buy it was $250 and one for
Europe was supposed to be coming online 1Q 2006 (it should be out !).
If it is as advertised I'll be hooking one up in the UK or Ned. and
be getting their feeds for the next Olympics.

Maybe one of our Canadian friends could hook one up for his rsa
friends?

When will this stuff be streamed over the net?

Cable is not great - other companies have more channels, but some of my
neighbors had satelite and went back to cable because every time it
rains (or snows) there's no reception on the satelite......

I've had both Dish Network and DirecTV. Never lost the signal once with
Dish Network. DirecTV loses it occasionally but it needs to be a pretty
bad storm. Nothing like the cable companies would like you to believe.
And when you do lose it, it's out for maybe 5-10 minutes tops. The real
problem is a tree on the neighbors yard. One of these days I'm gonna ask
DirecTV for the bigger version of the dish. It's supposed get a stronger
signal but frankly the problems have been so few and far between that it
hasn't been worth the trouble. Or maybe I'll see about putting the one I
have on a mast the gets the LOS above the tree.

OTOH I've also had Comcast. Their inability to properly ground the cable
cost me a TV, two VCR's, nearly burned my house down, and almost
electrocuted my wife! Of course they still insist the problem is not
with their cable even though I haven't had a single problem in 4 years
since switching to satellite. Before then I had problems every time we
had a thunderstorm. IMO their installers are a bunch of morons.

I actually like RV today. I do a lot of camping and have gotten some
good campsites from them. Also got a few good tips on how to maintain my
camper.

They used to have a skiing show that was similar to RV today but I
forget what it was called. They'd go to various ski resorts and give you
the low down on them. It also had a segment on improving your skiing.
Problem was they hadn't filmed any new shows in a couple of years. Wish
they'd bring it back but with new shows and new locations. I also wish
they'd cover more of the World Cup. In years past the coverage was much
better. How many women's races were covered this year? Maybe one? It's
been pathetic.

We have Patriot Media for cable. Better then the old company they bought
out, but I wish they would add things to their "regular" cable package
and not just to the digital package.

Anyway, the satellite TV problem was not info from the cable company.
Several of my neighbors all had the same problem (a mix of Dish and
Direct TV subscribers). Bad or no reception every time it rains, not
just in a really bad storm and not just for 5-10 minutes. Most of them
have switched back to cable. The others have both the satellite and
cable since they don't want to give up some things that only come on
satellite, but want a backup for when the reception is bad.
