I need help on choosing a snowboard. I am a beginner to intermediate
rider. I found a K2 Fuse board at the local shop. The guy at the store
recommended me Burton Moto boots with some K2 bindings that I cannot
remember the model name. What do you recommend? I think I need an all
around board, will K2 Fuse be fine for me? Is it a good brand?

Thanks in advance guys

K2 is a good brand and they make great boards that hold up very very
well. I'm still using a 10yr old Eldorado that's seen its share of
mishaps, but it still does what I tell it...and then asks fo rmore.

What other boards does the shop carry? I'd look for a freeride, or all
mtn board. the diff is the freeride will be more directional (wants to
be ridden forwards more than fakie) but the all mtn will allow you to
ride the gamut of runs available and still hit up the park with more
ease than the Freeride board.

Regarding Burton's lacing system, I'm not keen on it (If it's the one
I'm thinking of the laces are under the boot material and it has two
handles one for forefoot and the other for ankle up ) If these break
on the trail how will you fix them? Answer, Salomon had a similar
system but utilizes standard laces and locking cams at the shin and
ankle. If they break, laces are readily available and easier to repair
in a pinch.

How much are ya willing to spend and what are your stats? Weight, boot
size, (M/F) Height (note those are in order of importance too).

I've had the same concern. Any time I mention it to a salesman, the reply
is that Burton will replace the laces on warranty. Apparently they miss the
point that time on the snow is precious. To be fair, I have had very few
generic laces break.

The Salomon system lacks the ability to tighten the lower boot without
touching the upper, but a bit of relacing can fix that.

Thanks guys for your responses. I am 180cm (5'10'') , 80kg (176 lbs),
I am a male, I wear 43 europe (10 US) size shoes. I did not go for that
K2 board. I also changed location so that shop is no under any
consideration

There is another deal over here, Nidecker Blade 158 with Northwave
Tree shoes and some Drake bindings but can't remember the name. The
board is from last season (06). What do you think of this setup? Do you
think that my feet are too big for this board?

Thanks a lot again

As a beginner the board will be OK with the 249mm width, although the tail
and nose are fairly wide. The board should turn quickly as you will be at
the upper weight limit.

However, if you're more intermediate than beginner, you may find that the
board is too narrow, as you start riding steeper slopes or start carving
and leaning into the carves a little more. Also as you get better you'll
want something longer to give you more stability as your speed increases.
I don't think a 58 with medium flex is going to cut it.

The 163XL model would probably be a better bet. IMHO of course.

Ride 160 with same shoes and same bindings. I liked it. Any
suggestions? Should I buy this?
