Ski carrier advice
 

I have my own skis. What is best ski bags or ski cases (hard) ?

NB we'll be carrying 2 sets of skis, so a double case would be of use.

Any advice grateful ......

Thanks for the advice.

It would mainly be for planes & car travel to the airport. When I drive out, I just
put them in the back of the car

You don't say what you need it for - car travel, trains, aeroplanes?
So there's a few variables to consider...

I tend to drive everywhere nowadays, but a few years back we bought a
Snow&Rock own brand double ski bag, with wheels at one end. It's a
soft bag, with one hard end, IYSWIM, where the wheels are mounted and
(surprisingly) a handle on the other end as well as in the middle.

It's big enough to take 2* skis & boots, and even ski suits if you
pack it well, although it had a tendency for the wheeled end to shift
round if not (well packed) and rub on the ground as you're trying to
wheel it.

Ski carrier advice
 

I have a skibag (Salomon/soft) with tie down straps in both ends. It easily
carries my own and my sons ski, poles included.

I am quit pleased with it. As it has tie down straps, the skis is firmly
rested, and won't slide inside the bag, causing scratches.
It has a strap for carrying over the shoulder, witch can be a great releaf.

Beware of cheap bags, as the zipper may be weak and open up where it's
supposed to be zipped.

Wouldn't change for anything else.

Ski carrier advice
 

A few years ago we bought a double hard case and it is very good. They
are significantly more expensive than soft bags but worth it. The wheels
make it easy to lump around airports etc. and the hard case means it
doesn't flap when tied to the roof rack where it behaves more like a ski
box. The poles have stayed straight and undented through baggage
handling something that could not be said about our previous soft bags.
The only downsides are that it takes more space when empty and it is
harder to pack the skis into.
