Sunny weather until Friday forecasted, warming up considerably
from tomorrow :o(

Les Arcs: 0 cms at 1100m, 50cms at the top, domain 9% open only
(worse than neighbouring La Plagne). Just 10/117 runs, 7/57 lifts
open.

Not much better in the 3V, tho I hear Courchevel has managed to
open a few more pistes....

eg Meribel is 12% open, 2cms at 1400m, 64cm at 2952m.

This info updated this morning.....

Is it possible they are saving stuff for the busier weeks? I know the snow
is pretty thin, but even when a perfect cover I've skied this time of year
and only a few lifts were open in Tignes due to the number of people there.
Still plenty skiing though. Is anyone out there actually skiing at the
moment? It can't be all that bad. Where would you recommend in Tarentaise.

the ever optimistic snow forecast dot com has some down for Sunday, and
Meteo France has some for Saturday, so it may be ok for when I get the skis
on on monday.

As David says elsewhere it was reasonably ok (comparatively
speaking) above 2200 in Courchevel over last weekend, but rocky
in Val Thorens even at 3200.. Further up the Tarentaise La Plagne
is better then Les Arcs, Tignes is skiable, but it's going to be
pretty crowded whereever you go this time next week. Season pass
holders are still banned from skiing Les Arcs for the time being.

Where are you heading?

The Swiss forecasters are also forecasting snow for Sunday. I notice some
nice looking snow fallen in the last 48 hours too - see e.g.:

http://www.paradisecam.com/wsb/showp...p?cam=k72l&S=1

for Stockhütte (Klewenalp area) above Lake Luzern - 1286m. Nice and sunny
there now but good cool temperatures means it won't melt in a hurry.

Stopping in La Tania, but will have car. Kids booked into Ski School all
week, so it limits us a bit. Might get out for an afternoon trip if it's
needed.
Just hoping the snow arrives over the weekend and the lack of snow puts
everyone else off going :-)

Reckon you might as well stay put, unless things change radically
conditions in Courchevel are as 'good' as anywhere! Will update
conditions on Fri/Sat but full sun forecast until then anyway, so
they won't alter much.... And the likes of Tignes is a long drive
from 3V for just an afternoon...

You might be, the 10 day US military forecast for the European Theatre
is for snow from the 19th-24th/Dec in the 3vs, non-stop. :-)
