2 Alpes glacier conditions
 

End of season, but surprisingly much better weather at the end of this
month than late June through mid-August.

A week spent in very reasonable conditions with the snow staying hard
through to late morning, good cover given the previous summer heatwave.
All the harbingers of gloom (including myself) got it wrong, the glacier
managed to stay open through to the planned closing date in the end. And
quiet too, perhaps people had been put off by previous conditions. It
took yesterday's gales to halt access to the glacier a day early, but
all in all a good week's skiing. Roll on October.
