[quote]And so, I like the skiing of Snowbender in his video clip.
While it is not the style that I would usually prefer for myself, and
it alone does not make him an expert, I contend that few skiers on any
mountain could imitate him. Any true expert could easily imitate his
movements and "style" if he wanted to. While it is true that few
experts ski like him (very often), it is also true that anyone who
cannot ski like Snowbender is certainly not an expert.

Anyone would benefit from turning Snowbender's "style" into a drill
and seeking to master it, even if you don't like skiing that way. In
ways that perhaps few might understand, Snowbender's "exercise" is
helping him master many important nuances of expert skiing, including
subtle edge control, mastery of rotational (angular) momentum, and
fore-aft balance. As an exercise, he is developing a "touch" that few
skiers have, but all would benefit from. [end of quote]

I saw this thing at a sports store - a parachute for runners for
resistance training. Where I am, I have to drive about half an hour to
get to a decent uphill, and it is not long enough and I'm not thrilled
going downhill on wheels. I do use speed reducers on my Aeros to add
resistance on flats, but it feels artificial. So, a drag chute would
seem like a good idea. Some possible drawbacks come come to mind
though. Unless you're at a stadium, it must look really weird. Also,
if the wind is at your back, this thing will probably sag and tangle,
unless you outrun the wind.

Has anyone used it/seen it used this way?
>When Tranny Boob Thompson accused me of having violent homosexual
>fantasies regarding his old, flabby, diseased trunk butt, and then
>finally told the truth and admitted that he never showed up at a meet
>because he was afraid of being raped, he was telling the truth. For
>him.
>I've been setting traps for years, hoping to lure him into a situation
>where he could be gang raped by Mormon fudge packers.
>That's why I set a meet this year in Temple Square, site of the
>Tabernacle and Temple. The timing was perfect: if Brain Fried Bob had
>showed up, I was going to force him into the Tabernacle at dick point,
>duct tape him to the rostrum, and encourage the entire choir to
>convert him to Momo Homo while singing the Hallelujah Chorus.
>But Bob saw right through my nefarious plan.
>As for Boob not showing up at Deer Valley, who could blame him? After
>all, there's nothing in the world more obvious as a set up for male
>rape then setting a meet at 9,000 feet, in the mountains, in January,
>right next to a busy ski run. My plan was to duct tape him to the
>stove at the Cabin, and put up big signs on the run advertising his
>availability and charging a dollar a pop.
>Damn. Bob saw my scheme for what it was. Not a transparent
>opportunity for me to prove, once again, that he is a dickless coward
>who never has had and never will be man enough to spew his **** to my
>face, but a way for me ot exploit his new post operative transexual
>status.
>The clincher? I've set at least five meets at El Chubasco, a popular
>local eatery in PC. The name proves me to be the Snidely Whiplash of
>RSA. El Chubb Ass Company. El Chubasco. I had the whole restaurant,
>the owners, the staff, and all the customers primed for the arrival of
>a drunken, debauched, fugly, old, dickless and nutless transexual, Bob
>Thompson. We were going to duct tape him to the condiment counter,
>and rape him with chubby tamales and enchiladas smeared with mayo and
>mole.
>Chubs up his ass. How stupid of me to think I could fool a brilliant
>man like Birther Bob, who figured out Obama is Kenyan?
>I am so ashamed. I have been exposed. Obviously, Tranny Boob has
>exposed the real me. All these years I pretended that I wanted to
>kick the crap out of the freak simply because he is such a depraved,
>vile, cowardly, vicious little bitch. I even had all of you fooled
>into thinking that the notion of any homosexual sadistic tendencies
>was ridiculous. But Tranny Boob, with the wisdom of a bottle of vodka
>and several ounces of meth, saw right through me.
>I can't say I blame you freaks. Obviously, courage and manhood and
>ethics and honor have nothing to do with why none of you ever have and
>none of you ever will talk **** in person.
>You're scared of having a two foot beefstick jammed up your chocolate
>speedway.
>You poor beetches.
>Remember, don't pick up the soap in the shower. You never know when I
>will decide to hunt you down, beefstick strapped on, and have my way
>with you.
Again, you admit to rape
July 14, 2010
Lawsuits on Terrorism Get Mixed Reaction at Hearing
Witnesses sparred at a congressional hearing today over the possible
consequences of a bill designed to open up litigation against foreign
officials accused of financing terrorism.

The legislation, sponsored by Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.), would amend the
Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act of 1974 to allow lawsuits in limited
circumstances. It is in part a response to a 2008 ruling by the U.S. Court
of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, affirming that Sept. 11 victims could not
sue the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and four of its princes over charitable
contributions that the plaintiffs said went to Al-Qaeda.

"The evidence is very, very forceful about the involvement of Saudi money in
promoting terrorism," Specter said today in chairing a Senate Judiciary
subcommittee hearing on the issue. He said the threat of a lawsuit could
deter those considering financing terrorism.

As you hike up the widely used Five Lakes trail in Alpine Meadows,
California, you see a number of towers both below and above you,
apparently intended for a chair lift that, if it were completed, would
cross the trail at approximately a right angle, heading up in the
general direction of KT 22.

The towers themselves look quite new and modern and appear to be in very
good shape, except that there's no cable installed, and in fact no
pulley flanges on the towers.

Anyway know the origin or history of these? A project that got started
and then was disapproved or otherwise abandoned?

Do I recall correctly that there once was, quite a long while ago, a
lift in this general area that allowed skiers to ride up from Alpine and
drop down into Squaw Valley?
