If you can't get to any places to try on snowboard boots how would you ever
buy them. The last thing I want to do is buy a pair or old dirty beat up
Vans from the rental shop just because the fit well.

How are snowboard boots sized. I've been renting an 11 in various makes
and they all seem to fit nicely considering they aren't molded to my feet.
Should I just buy an 11 from an online retailer? The place I'm thinking of
buying from has a good exchange policy so I feel pretty safe there.

Thanks for your advice in advance,

Al

Can't you just stop in one of the onhill or nearby stores on your
way to/from the mountain? I'm not saying you should buy from them
at top price, but its really near impossible to buy boots without
trying them on first. Some brands are cut narrower than others,
and even within brands they change from year to year. Also some
boots are much heavier/boxier, which you may or may not like.

I'd rather buy the old vans than hope something I found online
would fit.
