Last season Killington, VT was about the first place open - I rode there
before thanksgiving.
They have a good variety of trails, but early season only the basic trails
seemed to be open.
Early December is touch and go anywhere in New England though, so the rule
of thumb is the more north you go in NH, VT or ME the more likely it is for
good early season riding.
If you want an excellent mountain that is also good value, Cannon in NH
(http://www.cannonmtn.com) is my personal favourite
